Last month, Ann posted about one of her favorite products — Everyday Shea moisturizer, made by a cooperative called Alaffia. The good folks there were kind enough to send SlowMama a product to giveaway — Handcrafted Shea Butter.
Anything with the word “butter” in it has got to be good, and this shea butter is no exception. It’s thick, but not greasy, and left my skin feeling super soft. It’s ideal for hands and feet and any areas that tend toward dryness. I even put it on my face. Shea butter has a lot of uses — I know moms who use it on their African-born children’s hair.
Alaffia’s shea butter is made without parabens, petroleum derivatives, or animal testing. And I like that it’s made in West Africa, with a portion of sales helping to alleviate poverty, enhance education, and improve gender equality.
This lovely shea butter can be yours if you leave a comment below telling me your favorite vacation spot. (Mine? Our family cottage in Nova Scotia.) Oh — and you can double your chances if you leave a second comment telling me that you follow SlowMama on Facebook.
Winner will be drawn on Friday at noon. Sorry, but I can only ship within North America. Good luck!

I’d love to go back to Hawaii on vacation, Maui specifically.
I follow you on fb, too.
My favorite vacation spot is the Dominican Republic (I haven’t been to many places, but this was the nicest yet)
The best place I’ve BEEN is Ireland…..but our default vacation place every year is Arlington Beach in Saskatchewan (his parents have a house right on the lake) where all my husband’s family gathers. It’s beautiful and free to stay there.
My favorite place is the beach. I love Ocean City, NJ the most but that sea air smell anywhere always knocks me over with memories of beachy summers of my childhood.
My favorite is Wisconsin. My family would go canoeing and camping. Picnics every day with water skiing! That was the life!!
Favourite vacation spot? I’m kind of a stay close to home person so I would say anywhere around Nova Scotia. I especially love being outside camping or at the cottage.
That body butter sounds really nice. I wonder if it’s sold around here. I’ll have to check it out.
My favorite vacation spot is anywhere hot! It rarely gets over 70 here in Seattle in the summer so I long to travel anywhere warmer. I went to Rome once and that was probably the best trip ever, though.
I also follow you on facebook.
Los Roques, Venezuela. I love the beach, and nothing beats a string of secluded islands in the Caribbean.
My favorite spot is Lake Gaston, on the border of NC and VA. Our family has been going up there since we were kids. We’ve made 3 more trips in recent years with kids of our own! It’s always peaceful and beautiful there, a wonderful place to unwind and spend quality time with family.

Best vacation ever was the tour of Greece I went on a few years ago. The last week I just spent bumming around Athens, drinking coffee and watching the world go by.
And I follow you on FB!
My favorite vacation was Kapama, South Africa! The animals were amazing!
A tiny fishing village on the Baja in Mexico called San Franciscito (sp?). Went there with my daddy when I was 12, never have forgotten it.
Fenwick Island, DE is my pick for a close vacation destination. Of course, anywhere near the ocean suits me, hot or not:)
I love Savannah, Georgia. Beautiful city to vacation in. I also follow SlowMama on facebook!
My favorite vacation place in Catamaran Resort in San Diego. I went there with my college student government for a conference and it was a wonderful experience.
I’ve just “Liked” your page on Facebook.
My mother’s cabin in the mountains of Oregon. Great in the snowy winter or the perfect Oregon summers.
I guess the question means we have to have been there more than once…Hmmm. I have been blessed with a whole slew of wonderful memories of repeated vacations to places as a child and newly married, but one that I cannot help but sigh when I think of it, is Twin Lakes, Washington on the Colville Indian Reservation. My mother was orphaned at a young age and thus was raised there by her grandparents…none of whom are native, but all were 100% accepted. So every summer we gathered there for a week with my mom’s brothers and their families, and we watched bear, moose, all sorts of water fowl, eagles, and much more. We did the good old things like throw sticks and rocks and swim all day long and then eat around the campfire. Lovely memories!
It’s kind of corny, but my most favourite recent vacation spot was Disney. Maybe not so relaxing, but full of fun, wonder, and magic! My first visit was at 30, and I can’t wait to go back again! I never would have thought it was as interesting as it is, but it’s (in my opinion) much more than the commerical place I thought it was. Otherwise, put me on a plane, train, or bus and send me anywhere new to explore and I’m on the best vacation of that moment!

I’d have to say anywhere new
. Love experiencing new cultures and places! When I travel, I find myself FORCED to slow down and live in the moment
.

My favorite vacation spot is Myrtle Beach.
We love going to Barbados.

Pacific Grove/Carmel, CA- its the perfect combo of woods and ocean to calm and rejuvenate.
Glad to have found your site! ‘Liked’ your facebook page.
Yosemite! Yosemite! Yosemite! I’ve hiked extensively on mountain ranges in seven continents, but never seen beauty that exceeds that found in the Sierras. “… a priceless gem of perfection, an unsurpassed, unparalleled vision of glory!”
Mueller Park in Colorado. It’s right under Pikes Peak. Husband and I went there for our honeymoon and would love to go back!

Oh, and friday is my birthday. Shea butter would be a LOVELY gift.
My favorite vacation was house sitting in Topanga Canyon in the L.A. area. There were coyotes and we could go out walking in the evening and it was very peaceful (not many people). I did a lot of reading. The house I stayed at had a hammock and an outdoor shower. It was so lovely!
I love New Orleans, it’s a state of mind and my favorite place to vacation.
Hi Zoe, Funny, but one of my favourite vacation spots is your family cottage in NS. I drove by it two summers ago and wanted to stop in at the house, but my partner was shy and insisted that we just go to the other beach – Rushton’s.
I have very fond memories of our summer jaunts down the road to the cottage, capturing jellyfish, and playing “war” with as many kids as we could find.
They were definitely great times.

We love to go to Algonquin Provincial Park for vacations. While camping is “new” to me, TRESemme dry wash shampoo allows me to get past the “ick, no running water” part and enjoy the actual camping experience!
I follow SlowMama on Facebook, too!
I haven’t been there since childhood, but the most beautiful vacation place I remember was our family’s cottage in Cape Breton. Next best is the beach in California.
Luck last perhaps?… Wilson’s Prom, Victoria, Australia. Lots of beaches and coves, great hiking and plenty of kangraoos about. Very restful!
And have been a FB follower too!
My favorite vacation was a cruise to Alaska!
I follow on FB, too.
My favorite place is wherever I’m going on my next trip.
My fave vacay spot is Broadway, VA, at my dad’s 1900s farm house in Shenandoah Valley. It reminds us of Arequipa, Peru.
This site truly has all of the info I needed concerning this subject and didn’t know who to ask.
