Margaret Cabaniss

Margaret Cabaniss Margaret Cabaniss grew up in Raleigh, North Carolina, but never really considered herself a Southern girl…until she moved further north and realized she missed good grits and the sound of cicadas.  Not one for the “domestic arts” while growing up, she’s making up for lost time by learning through trial and error things her mother and grandmothers knew all along: how to cook, can, craft, sew, and make things with her own two hands.  Now an editor living in Baltimore, she enjoys bourbon, books read in hammocks, picking on the mandolin, and searching for the perfect biscuit recipe.

Ann Waterman

Ann HeadshotAnn Waterman lives in the burbs of Washington, D.C. with her husband and three young sons. She’s a stay-at-home mama who loves toothless baby grins, scrubbed tubs, artichokes, nursing, cook books, fine soap, documentaries, and finding favorite things for her home and family. She considers her greatest accomplishments to be completing a half-marathon, having a successful VBAC, and marrying her husband. She’s working on not chewing her fingernails, being more sympathetic (her husband claims her heart is two sizes too small), and getting up when the alarm goes off. After the birth of her first child, she found herself following in the footsteps of her mom who, she now realizes, was a Slow mama herself without even knowing it.

Alissa Lively

AlissaLively Alissa Lively is a full time stay-at-home mama who lives with her husband Dan and their children in Washington, D.C. She loves the big city and tries to experience all it has to offer while not being drawn into its frantic pace — a challenge requiring her to balance babies and public transportation, homeschooling and high-rise living. She spends her days reading to her two daughters, chasing after her toddler son, starting (but not yet finishing) mountains of fabulous projects, making anything found in Fine Cooking magazine, rearranging her apartment, and dreaming of a backyard.
